RE: Must Do's in Hilton Head and Savannah
I own a lot at Hilton Head RV Resort and Marina, great place to park a RV. Nice to sit on the waterway deck and watch the dolphins. Alot of great restaurants on Hilton Head, we love the Oyster Factory. Perfect area to rent a bike at the beach and ride to Sea Pines. Tons of bike trails.
30 amp service vs 50 amp service
I am still new at this and still learning about RVing. Question about running 30amp service, right now I have the RV parked and hooked up to 50amp. I am getting ready to move to another place where they have only 30amp service. What problems can I run into? Can I run the AC? I have 2 ac units, would I be able to run one of the AC units? Any suggestions or advice would be wonderful!
RE: Leveling the front jacks (or should you)
I am used to a level lot, but the lot that I plan to park on has some side slope. Need advice on how and what to use to push the fiver on the wood, should I get a small ramp and stack wood behind the the ramp or place wood in stair like fashion or should I get a hydraulic jack, jack up the fiver, and slide wood underneath the wheels? Any suggestions or advice would be great.
RE: Comments on Roadmaster Active Suspension or Bilstein shocks
I went with the RAS and it made a difference in squatting, it lifted up the rear end about 1.5 inches, and after putting on the fifth wheel, it leveled out. I made a 6 hr trip and was very pleased with results. RAS gets my vote!
Comments on Roadmaster Active Suspension or Bilstein shocks
Need input on Roadmaster Active Suspension - (RAS) for my 2006 GMC 2500HD D/A CC SB 4X4 , it squats a little with my 2008 Jayco 345BHS. I heard the RAS is the way to go for preventing squatting and help with handling. What about Bilstein shocks, any comments?
RE: Need weight specs on 2006 GMC 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab
Thanks for all the responses, everybody was very helpful. After reading and speaking with many others, I have finally purchased a 2008 Jayco Eagle 345BHS, just over 37'. The truck I purchased is a 2006 GMC 2500HD CC D/A SB 4X4 with Michelin LT265/75R16 Rated E tires. Added 15K reese and voyager brake kit. It squats a little, not too bad. I was told a Roadmaster Active Suspension would take care of that plus help handling. I went to www.activesuspension.com and it was very informative. Anybody using the Roadmaster Active Suspension? I plan to have them put on unless I am convinced otherwise. Now to towing the new RV, this was a very first for me. I drove it from the RV dealership to home which was about 80 miles. I love that allison transmission, finally tweaked the braking system, works beautiful, I was crusing at 75mph at times and did not realize it. I was nervous about making turns at tight intersections, got lucky because of no cars in the way. Also notice I must get camping side mirrors. I used the tow mode which I was told was mandatory when hauling heavy loads. This truck has a M next to D which allows me to have 6 gears and must shift using the +/- on the steering column gear shift. Any opinions about using the M and when to use that?
Need weight specs on 2006 GMC 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab
Thinking about getting a fifth wheel. I am looking to purchase a 2006 GMC 2500HD 4x4 Crew Cab short bed Duramax/Allison. I have read where the truck can pull upto 16,000 lbs. Where is the best place to find how much fifth wheel pin weight this truck can take, what do I look at far as max payload the truck can handle or rear gross axle weight rating. I been told depending on the fifth wheel I may have to put in a helper spring to prevent sagging. Also thinking about being able to pull trailer w/2 jetskis behind the fifth wheel too. Have not decided which fifth wheel I am purchasing, but it wheel be 38ft or less.
All comments and suggestions are welcome.
